What is publicly established for ProConnect
Connection claims are provider-specific. One vendor's API access does not establish another vendor's method or your firm's permissions.
| Option | Published ProConnect relationship | Practical evaluation |
|---|---|---|
| Juno | Describes delivery through Intuit's ProConnect API | Authorization and treatment of existing return data |
| Filed | Describes source ingestion, workpapers, and return drafting | Access path for your document and tax systems |
| TaxGPT Cowork | Names ProConnect and a specific 1040 preparation workflow | Available tasks, agent actions, and human handoff |
| TaxAutomate | Browser connector for approved preparation work | Correct signed-in context and review of the resulting return |

Compare the connection and the preparation separately
The first ProConnect buying question is how approved work reaches the right return. The next is what evidence reaches the reviewer with it. An efficient connection and a clear preparation record solve different problems, so a demonstration should cover both.
Juno explicitly describes API delivery without a browser extension. TaxAutomate's available ProConnect integration uses a browser connector. Compare authorization, account selection, session requirements, and recovery in your environment. Neither method alone proves broader form support or better tax outcomes.
Follow the source from its existing storage location
Filed describes document-system ingestion, readable workpapers, and drafting inside ProConnect. TaxGPT names ProConnect in Cowork and labels a 1040 workflow specifically for it. Ask each provider to show the process using the source location and permissions your firm already uses, rather than treating a general platform presentation as the final operating plan.
Give the reviewer a source value that needs correction. Follow the corrected value through approval and delivery, then open the result in ProConnect. Ask where the source, reason for the change, and outstanding question can be found after a second staff member takes over.
Make client and tax-year selection a visible step
Use two representative client records and a returning-client scenario. Ask the operator to identify the firm, taxpayer, tax year, and starting return state before moving prepared data. Then show how the workflow handles a client name that looks similar to another record and a source packet received in more than one batch.
The test is successful when the preparer can explain the destination and the change that occurred. Include interruptions and a session that needs attention. Record who resumes the work and how the team prevents a second delivery from being mistaken for a new, unrelated job.
Decide whether the bottleneck is entry or coordination
TaxAutomate links AI Front Desk and CRM document requests to the reviewed binder and ProConnect handoff. This is relevant when a preparer cannot start because answers are scattered or missing. If your existing collection process already works well, evaluate the preparation stage first and compare the additional workflow only where it has a job to do.
Agree on a small evaluation containing a complete packet, a missing answer, and a corrected source. Measure the staff work at each handoff. Keep the final ProConnect review, calculated results, diagnostics, professional decisions, and filing authorization explicit before deciding what to purchase.
- Identify the product and connection method in the proposed package.
- Show the right client and year before preparation delivery.
- Open the original source beside the result under review.
- Retain the reason for a correction and the owner of unresolved work.
