TaxAutomate works alongside SmartVault. Clients upload to the SmartVault portal like always — you download the set, bulk-upload to TaxAutomate, and deliver the finished return back through the portal with your retention rules intact.
No connectors, no sync, no new portal for clients — just a clean loop
Pull the client's uploads from their SmartVault folder.
One batch per client. Organized workpapers and a completed return in about five minutes, flat $35 up to 10 pages.
The completed return and workpapers go back into the client's vault for secure delivery and retention.
SmartVault firms picked a tax-specific document vault for a reason: structure and retention. TaxAutomate feeds that structure — the vault keeps doing intake and delivery, and the preparation in the middle drops from hours to minutes.
What firms ask about TaxAutomate and SmartVault
No, and we won't pretend it is. There's no API connection or background sync. You download documents from SmartVault and upload them to TaxAutomate in bulk. That's deliberate — fewer connected systems touching SSNs.
Organized, bookmarked PDF workpapers and completed returns — entered directly into Drake or delivered ready for ProSeries if you use those, or as PDF workpapers for anything else. Drop the workpapers back into SmartVault wherever your team already looks.
Flat $35 per return, covering up to 10 pages of source documents — that's 35 credits at $1 per credit, plus 1 credit per page after 10. Optional expert review adds 20 credits (about $20). Credit packages start at 200 returns ($7,000), with volume discounts up to 15%. New accounts get $50 in free credits to test the output quality on your own documents.
Client data is protected with AES-256 field-level encryption — sensitive fields like SSNs are encrypted individually, not just at rest. Our controls are built to SOC 2 standards, and we never store your tax software credentials.
