TaxAutomate Works With QuickBooks Online

TaxAutomate works alongside QuickBooks Online. Export the reports you already pull at year-end — P&L, balance sheet, trial balance — upload them with the client's tax documents, and get organized workpapers and a completed business return back.

The Combined Workflow

No connectors, no sync, no new portal for clients — just a clean loop

1

Export year-end reports from QBO

P&L, balance sheet, and trial balance as PDFs — the same package you'd hand a preparer.

2

Bulk-upload to TaxAutomate

Drop the reports in with the client's other tax documents. Flat $35 per return, up to 10 pages, about five minutes to process.

3

Completed return back into your workflow

Organized workpapers plus the completed return — native Drake or ProSeries files, or PDF workpapers — filed wherever your team keeps the client.

Why Firms on QuickBooks Online Add TaxAutomate

Firms doing books in QBO already have the year-end numbers; the slow part is turning them into a return. TaxAutomate takes the report package you'd normally hand to a preparer and gives back a completed, review-ready business return — 1065, 1120, or 1120-S — without anyone re-keying a trial balance.

Frequently Asked Questions

What firms ask about TaxAutomate and QuickBooks Online

Is this an API connector for QuickBooks Online?

No, and we won't pretend it is. There's no API connection or background sync. You download documents from QuickBooks Online and upload them to TaxAutomate in bulk. That's deliberate — fewer connected systems touching SSNs.

What comes back into my workflow?

Organized, bookmarked PDF workpapers and completed returns — entered directly into Drake or delivered ready for ProSeries if you use those, or as PDF workpapers for anything else. Drop the workpapers back into QuickBooks Online wherever your team already looks.

What does it cost?

Flat $35 per return, covering up to 10 pages of source documents — that's 35 credits at $1 per credit, plus 1 credit per page after 10. Optional expert review adds 20 credits (about $20). Credit packages start at 200 returns ($7,000), with volume discounts up to 15%. New accounts get $50 in free credits to test the output quality on your own documents.

Is my client data secure?

Client data is protected with AES-256 field-level encryption — sensitive fields like SSNs are encrypted individually, not just at rest. Our controls are built to SOC 2 standards, and we never store your tax software credentials.
