Scope and completeness
Confirm engagement scope, return types, jurisdictions, tax year, expected documents, received packet, client questions, and known limitations. Identify work the AI or integration does not support.
A complete upload count is not evidence that the packet is complete.
Evidence and mapping
Sample and risk-review source-to-field links, transformations, imports, allocations, and generated workpapers. Verify that missing pages, duplicate forms, corrected forms, and contradictory client facts became visible exceptions.
Review material values even when the system reports high confidence.
Technical review
Apply current tax law and firm standards to filing status, dependents, basis, elections, limitations, state treatment, disclosures, and other judgment areas. Clear software diagnostics and firm-specific checks with documented reasons.
Generated research or correspondence should cite authoritative sources and receive professional review before use.
Approval and monitoring
Record preparer, reviewer, material changes, unresolved disclosures if any, client authorization, and final filing status. Keep the evidence under the firm's retention and security policy.
Analyze corrections by root cause to improve the workflow without treating a low edit count as proof of accuracy.
